I’m still here

LOL,
You have nerve.
With all the ability you have, you choose this?!
To come into my life was a great mistake.
To try to remove me was a great mistake.
To think I would lie down and die, was your great mistake.
To think you wouldn’t be found OUT…
…Your Great Mistake

So there was a lost.
There was a death.
-An Intrusion-

HAHAHAHAHA

We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair;
Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed

Death may be worked in me, but it’s so that life will be in some one else
-Even you-

Pressurized Fuel

So the other day I was taking my walk in the neighborhood.  walking cartoon

At some point I put my hands in my pockets. Doing that caused me to feel like I was pushing harder as I approached the incline [hill].  When I caught that I was breathing harder, I began using my arms (swinging them, as is natural and useful).  Immediately, I felt like I was being pushed – propelled – aided…, causing my hike up the hill to be e-e-easy.

Now my mind is flooded with thoughts:

  1. It’s important to make full use of what we have
  2. We have what it takes to succeed
  3. The Pressured Lesson

As you read, I want to encourage you to know that you win.  You will find that I’m using my time of exercise as a jump off to this bigger platform of  – You got it, Use it.  You were made to live. Live successfully.  Yet successful living will require you to work every avenue until every avenue works for you.

1. So my walk taught me to use everything I have towards my success.  My success is not limited to health nor wealth, but everything that I am.  I am a spirit that possesses a soul that lives in a body.  So every dimension of my being must be intact for complete success.

One of the things this blog wants to do is help people view things from a richer stand/viewpoint.  Why a New millionaires mindset? It’s not just about getting/having money. For those who are religious, though heaven is the greatest treasure – it’s not just about going to heaven.  Then you have the health fanatics – it’s not just about being skinny, or never enjoying a piece of bacon or working out till you pass out; different people have their extremes.  Nonetheless, we must elevate.

One of the main places I draw from is the bible. So as we discuss making full use of what we have, I am reminded of the following scriptures:

2 Corinthians 4:

Now there cried a certain woman of the wives of the sons of the prophets unto Elisha, saying, Thy servant my husband is dead; and thou knowest that thy servant did fear the Lord: and the creditor is come to take unto him my two sons to be bondmen.

And Elisha said unto her, What shall I do for thee? tell me, what hast thou in the house? And she said, Thine handmaid hath not any thing in the house, save a pot of oil.

2 Peter 1:3

According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:

The first scripture is the perfect combination of money, wealth, resources and more.  My walk up the incline took me from ease to pressure.  Many times married women rely on their husbands to take care of them.  Though the idea, in theory, is great [very fantasy like, “..and they lived happily ever after”], it’s not practical.  The problem is that too much dependence in one area can cause for crippling.  By not using my arms, I felt more pressure in my knees, but adding my arms relieved some of that pressure and made me feel like I was walking lighter on my feet (more pep in my step).  Whether, you’re the woman or the man in the relationship who is not working, know that It Takes Two. Should something happen, …death, …divorce, you are now crippled; BUT not out the game.  One shouldn’t let the fact that they’re Gnot currently the bread winner keep them from knowing how to make dough.  Hopefully my little play on words attempt has workedbread and dough are synonymously used, in slang, for money.  Get it? 🙂 Anyway.

“Start where you are. Use what you have. Do what you can.” ― Arthur Ashe

Making full use of what you have is seen in the following:

  1. While married, be in the know.  Oh yes! Converse about finances.  What bank has your mortgage?  How much does it take to keep the house afloat a month/yr?  Do you have enough of the Right Life insurance?  Not only so, but be in the know as it relates to your personal abilities, gifts, talents, likes and more.  This will come in handy whether you live happily ever after or not.  Real men are attracted to a living, lively woman; Woman…, a strong and capable man.  Use what you have. You’re not working but you’re in the house where you have access to the paperwork and then-some.  Every marriage is different, meaning some husbands don’t want their wife to know or do anything.  This is not 1960, ’80 or the year 2000; it’s 2014 and progressing forward. With every day, let alone every year, opportunity presents itself.  You fell like a prisoner, well guess what? Even inmates use what they have, time, to concoct plans and more.
  2. While married you’re mindful that being in love today doesn’t always mean being in like, let alone in love, tomorrow.  So use the time You Have if there are no children or while the children are in school, to learn something new or maybe even create something innovative.  A woman from an Asian country came to the U.S. and learned how to cook from watching the Food Network.  She learned enough to get herself work and proceed to go on a Reality Food Competition and win.  Use what you have. Everyone loves how beautifully your house has been adorned and constructed, and the design of it all is You; That’s Money.  Say what you want about Paula Deen, but she showed women how to go from bags to riches, if you know what I mean.  I mean the list goes on and on.  Some say Samuel L. Jackson used to be a bum, telling jokes on the street.  Well his role in Coming To America could cause you to think that’s true.  Whatever. If it was true then, it makes no difference now—does itopportunity
  3. Now divorced, you work your gifts without the interruption of another (it doesn’t matter what s/he thinks).  Maybe you felt hindered before.  Well what excuse is there now. Use what you have. They’re gone because they wanted to leave or you wanted them to leave.  So what do you have? More time and freedom but if you don’t work it, time will seemingly mock and enslave you.  That’s why you can’t give yourself to bitterness and regret but rather move forward and live.
  4. Now widowed (after pulling yourself together and never forgetting the love shared), you take what is in your house and live.  You must live, because you most likely have others depending on you, just as the woman in the scriptures. Work the sympathy and empathy you have at the moment for favors.  Essentially that’s what she did, as instructed by Elisha. During this time many people will say, ” ‘If there’s anything I can do…;’ ‘If there’s anything you need…;’ ‘Let me know if…;’ ‘…Don’t hesitate to call.’ ”  Well, let’s see who says what they mean and mean what they say.  Use what you have.

Why? You say.  Why not?! It says.  It makes me think of the story of Dumbo.  You remember the Walt Disney cartoon movie, right? walk dumbo Everyone else thought he was a freak, strange, weird, etc.  Let’s not even go into the fact that it was his own that received him not.  Boy is that a loaded gun. Wow! Yet it took a possible enemy and a pressurized situation to reveal to him what he had.  Wow!  If I never felt the pressure in my knees I never would have made use of my arms; and if hadn’t used my arms, I never would’ve experienced what it’s like to float up an incline.  Call me crazy, weird, or whatever; but I’m learning to be fueled by the pressure.  Oh that’s good.

The New Millionaires Mindset is to receive the pressure (the roughness; the difficulty; the hardship…) as fuel.  Why?  All things work together for my good.  Why? When I’m weak, then am I strong.  Why? God allowed it to come my way because it pertains to my life and godliness.  Pressure tempers me. My character is built. My muscles are built and building. Now I’m stronger.  Pressure causes me to pray.  Oh yeah!  Whether we want to admit it or not, I don’t have to know how to pray to know how to cry out.  I don’t need to go to church to learn it.  I don’t need a 12 week class to explain it.  Just a little pressure in the right spot will make any man fall to his knees. I’m not gonna tell you who to cry to. Let’s just say that when a child/baby cries, it’s parent responds in love (no strings attached, no hidden fees or such like).  Even so, when the heart truly cries, only a living God can answer, and answer in love.

PRESSURIZED FUEL

The greatest players use anger as fuel. Michael Jordan played every night with something like road rage.

Pressure is what weight lifters use to become body builders. Financially speaking, Robert Kiyosaki said that he used the people screaming at him (creditors, debtors and so forth) to push him to go get more money.  Pressure is what caused Dumbo to fly. Pressure is what mother’s use to push out/forth life.  Pressure is what will fuel you to success; …to greater; IF YOU LET IT.  Guess what?  The reason you feel like you’re about to explode sometimes, is because of that pressurized fuel.  You will combust if you don’t use what you have.  That’s why some of us are overweight by a few pounds here and a few pounds there.  We took in the fuel but made no or little use of it, so now we’re walking around gassy.

Are you gonna fuel your faith or fuel your fear? I’m all about fueling my faith, especially when it’s hard to do so.

Exercise your right to achieve.  This will require persistence.  Why persistence?  Persistence is needed because of the hills you will climb.  Don’t fear the hills, just use all that God has given you to overcome.  Use what you have as fuel. Fuel what you have with what you have.

Wealthy Thoughts Produce Growth

It’s amazing how time reveals that older is wiser in many instances. This here is certainly one of those times. No matter how long ago this book was originally written, the style in which it was written and the principles relayed to us are still of great relevance. As a matter of fact, the word ‘relayed’ is noteworthy indeed. Reason being – as a verb, it means to carry forward, and essentially that is what’s happened here. The baton of success is being passed to him that is in pursuit. Ok, so what am I saying

Napoleon Hill has initiated a race of wills – for if you will, you shall. This race is between the haves and the have-nots. Not monetary wise but that of persistence, that of having a ready mind, that of passion. Right now the ‘Haves’ are ahead and seemingly unreachable by the ‘Have-Nots’; but please note that this is not a Sprint. Yes, speed is required, as time is always of the essence – for who knows if tomorrow will be – but this race is more about one’s endurance; as it is a long distance run. Lets relate it to a triathlon, if you will. For the seeker begins in a sink or swim situation of which happens long before the race. Napoleon aims to help us understand how great a role our state of mind/being plays in the overall outcome of our own success; and success to each is different, but I’ll speak more on that later. One sinks or swims in accordance to their belief that they will. As a Christian, I love the mention and implication of scriptures. In this case, I would apply Mark 11:23 “For verily I say unto you, That whosoever… shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that…which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.” There is a conditioning of the psyche that is imperative for the success seeker; the one who is ready.

“If you do not conquer self, you will be conquered by self.”

One is truly not ready for more if their thought life is unstable. There’s a note in the ‘Forward’ informing us that what is before us are “…steps for those searching for a definite goal.” There must be an aim, otherwise one is running around pursuing, in vain, a better life like a chicken with its head cut off; no direction, blinded. Napoleon says, “There is one quality which one must possess to win, and that is Definiteness of Purpose…” But I love it because, once you’re in the race, you’re not in it alone. That should not go unnoticed. Napoleon Hill did not discover the secret(s) to success from a box. He shares with us the lives of others. Just as is the case with something like a triathlon, anything worth having is worth working/fighting for. But now that I am in the race, I owe it to me and loved ones to push forward. What’s awesome is that I have help. Though I’m pedaling away, my help are the wheels of positivity and momentum. This positive mind will make me attractive. The more attractive I am the more attractive I will be and the more I will draw those who are and that which is attractive too.

Oh man, I love this book, because it gets the juices flowing. It charges the battery of the one who refuses to be average and guides them without giving all the answers to the test. In that I mean, he’s like a teacher who says it without saying it. But I have to bring your attention back to the comment on one’s view of success. You see, he lets us know that success is different for everyone. If we use the whole triathlon thing again, some people would feel/be successful for just getting through. There are people who are teachers and love what it is they’re doing and are successful.

Moreover, one should know that being a success is not limited to years of schooling. He speaks of how Carnegie was convinced by Schwab of this: “…much of that which is taught in the schools, is of no value whatsoever in connection with the business of earning a living or accumulating riches.” It’s amazing how so many people spend hundreds of thousands of dollars going to college to get a degree in something they’re not passionate about.

“No man can succeed in a line of endeavor which he does not like.”

Many of us was under the impression that we should become a doctor, a lawyer, an electrical engineer, a politician, or something of sorts that is considered to be prestigious and that, in so doing, we will be rich and successful. Napoleon Hill presents to us that it’s permitted to step out of the box of that thinking. There are highly successful people who are affluent [in family, life, and money] who are high school drop-outs (not that we promote dropping out), but not because they’re not smart enough; no, not by far.

As we continue running through life we must be mindful of others. There may be a chance that while you’re running, you notice that someone has fallen or is simply in need of an encouraging boost. Napoleon Hill says, “It is literally true that you can succeed best and quickest by helping others to succeed.” No man is more wealthy than the man who is able to lend a hand Up.

I really do encourage all to read this book. As a matter of fact, it should probably be read every 1-2 years (note for those who’ve read it already). What would be most beneficial is to stop after each chapter and review:

  1. What has been learned
  2. Two quotes to add to the think bank
  3. Why you agreed/disagreed with something said
  4. The portion to apply and see definite results within two weeks time,
  5. and more of your choice.

I hope this review has been enjoyable and helpful. There are so many things that can be said but I will pass the baton for you to carry on.

The New Millionaire’s Mindset is a Mindset.

DO YOU SEE WHAT I SEE?

DO YOU SEE WHAT I SEE?

The New Millionaire’s Mindset = Possibility

What is the difference between a real carpenter and a sham one?

This was the question on a Korean (I think it was Korean) movie that my wife saw.  The name of the movie is “A Moment to Remember.”  An aspiring architect, currently working as a carpenter, fell in-love with a designer and was now sitting with her father.  The father shows him a picture of J*s*s on the wall, then… well, let’s read it together.

Did you know Jesus was a carpenter?

A carpenter is a holy vocation.

What’s the difference between a real carpenter and a sham one?

Go to a shop and see many.  They [shams] all complain about the wood.  The real carpenter sees the texture.

What’s the texture?

IT’S A POSSIBILITY.

The texture gets you anything.  A real carpenter can see that.”

I think that is powerful.  The father adds,

It’s the same with you.  You’re all wrong, but there’s texture.

This is so powerful.  This is so God to make Himself known as He who looks beyond our faults and sees our needs.  The One who is not taken back or at a lost with our shortcomings, but instead lets us know that when we are weak, then He is strong.

So what does this have to do with the new millionaire’s mindset?  I think you already know.  I think you see what I see.

It worked for Walt

So many of you know how I share from my influential time with my son.  Well there’s this movie – “Meet The Robinsons” – that was quite brilliant and I’m sure it’s definitely impacted the thoughts, and subsequently, the lives of adults and children.  The quote that was carried throughout the movie was –

Keep Moving Forward

Yeah, you know it.  Have you read/heard the full quote?  As you see, you can check it out below.

walt disney - keep mvng fwd quote

Cool right?!  So if it worked for Walt then let’s take this journey,  leading us to our dreams and goals.  This happens when we:

Think differently.  React differently.

Many of you are here now because of curiosity.  Not only so, but many of us refuse to settle because of that same curiosity.  Curious about what life is like on the other side.  Curious about tomorrow.  Curious about what makes the rich and/or wealthy ‘better’ than those who are not, as yet.  Well here’s a secret for you:

DECISIONS = RESULTS

Seems simple, right?  Well follow me because it’s more involved than you think. Just as homicide is the death of an individual and pesticide is the death of pest and so forth,  I found out, that DECIDE means – to put to death any other options.   This is what separates successful people (no matter how much they currently make) from those who just don’t get it.

So the other day I was talking to a gentleman who’s the owner of his own construction company.  He told me that he got started after quitting his job.  Get this, he quit because he wanted a $50 raise and was denied.  He thought to himself, if he is not worth $50 than he is in the wrong place.  It’s been over 64 yrs and he is now a millionaire with a legacy he has established for his children who can now run the business for him, if he didn’t still believe in working hard no matter the age.

Now I know some of us have been in the position of feeling like we were worth more than what someone was willing to pay us.  We’ve pondered the thought of doing something else (quitting, finding another job, starting a business, taking a trip, etc) and maybe even went so far as to write up a plan or goal-map.  What happened?  We stayed pondering and failed to decide because of the agonizing ‘What Ifs?’ and only saw it as it related to the negatives.  In other words, fear took up residence in our hearts and minds and kept us from moving forward by putting death to our hopes and the possibilities of tomorrow and the involved yet successful journey to life on the other side.  The other side of what?  The other side of fear, doubt, feeling helpless, having not enough, having just enough, and so forth.

Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

Faith substantiates ones hope but if there’s no hope, there’s nothing for faith to validate.  Trying to prove your new invention or idea is not crap, while yet feeling that way inside, is not going to get anyone to believe – not even you.

Think -have no money, Say -have no money, Result -have no money. This becomes a cycle.

Be inspired to think like a millionaire.  Think like where you want to go as opposed to where you are. Stop with the defeated thinking.  Turn negatives into positives: What if it works? What if I get the loan?  What if my child goes from a C+ average to an A+?  What if I become the next example of success for my children/family/community/world?  What if…?

keep moving fwd -mtr movieAlso, stop looking back.  Whatever didn’t work before should be analyzed for your next move forward and that’s it.  No more attention or power should be given to it.  If you decide to step out…as Nike said, Just Do It!  Do what?

Keep Moving Forward.

It worked for Walt.

~Orlando

Think forward

Sometimes the best direction is UP.

Have you been trying to establish a business or get a promotion or just get ahead somehow?

I know I have.  Could the hold up have been our train of thought? …Or the fact that things didn’t go well for us before – whether you were let down by yourself or others – and the disappointment is still plaguing us?  Whatever was done, or experienced, in the past was then.

Now be catapulted to a new mindset.

I’m reminded of something my wife says to our son when he walks forward and looks backwards – “You can’t successfully walk forward looking backwards.”  Besides, it’s not only hurting your neck, but, the possibilities of negatives are many:

  • (comically) you could step in something unpleasant
  • you could trip on… Anything
  • bumping into another person is possible
  • falling into a ditch
  • get hit by a car…

WHOA!!!  So dismal, right.  I know..  Yet , isn’t that how life seems and feels at times.  Yeah!

When we’re on the move in life (you know, mundane survival) but our thoughts are chained to yester -day/year, it’s almost impossible for us to expect to have ,  WELL! Being inspired by my son and his dealings, again, I want to share a movie line from The Incredibles, by Edna:

I never look back darling, it distracts from the now.

Isn’t that cool.  I thought so, which is why I shared it. 🙂  🙂  But really – What could possibly be back there, that is worth more attention then what’s here, now, and that which is to come.   If everything starts with intention, then intend to live life moving forward.  And the only way for that to happen is by thinking forward.  As stated, It’s all in your head.  That’s where the battle is won or lost.  In the head!  Command central.

I mean, let’s think about.  The Central Nervous System is comprised of the brain and the spinal cord.  If our head/thoughts are in turmoil, then we’re certain to have nervous break-downs.  And when thoughts are entertained they send signals throughout our body.  So…

Think differently.  Have a better Outcome.  What Outcome?  The desired one.

You know, I planned on going a different way but it’s quite possible that this was needful.  You see, a lot of people want to get ahead but without the daily nurturing of the psyche.  That’s good.  There is a hearty-head needed.  Let’s not forget that the bible says,

As a man thinks in his heart, so is he.

We will be covering many things along our Millionaire journey.  I welcome you to come along with me.  And, feel free to share some things with me.  We’re in it together.

Thanks y’all
